So we have been camping for some time now, and we are truly getting the hang of it. So lets up the stakes. Firstly we are going to be doing this camp with no support from our loved family, second of all we are going to be taking a camper that we have never used before and finally if this wasn't enough it was predicted to rain for the weekend.

None the less this is what we wanted, the ability to enjoy the camping experience with our children and create the precious moments.

Well if you want to hear about the camper, check out the review on the Echo Kavango, but let me tell you about the place that we stayed at. Konka did not disappoint, even with the rain.

As you enter, you are greeted by this pride of lions, perching on this mound. There is a walk way around the cage that allows you to get really close to these majestic animals. The kids went absolutely crazy and we had more scares trying to keep them away from the electric fence than being stalked by the lions.

Yes that is right when the kids ran pass the fence, one of the lioness quickly made herself so low that even though I was only a couple of meters away from her, she disappeared into the long grass.

It was only when I ran for Diego that she stood up and I got to see the sheer size of her, she is massive.

You can spend hours watching the lions and the kids enjoy it, however it's only in the early hours of the morning when the lions are speaking to each other that it really gives you goose bumps. The deep base roar is so close that it is spine chilling, it's in those moments you are thankful for the electrical fence and the lockable door on your camper. More about that moment in the other blog about sleeping the rain with two babies and lions outside.

But let's tell you more about Konka, we had our own ablution and it was clean and new (you can smell the fresh paint). The site allocated to us was clean and well maintained with easy access to water and electrical plugs, I think the only problem we had was the camp area allocated were too small and needed maybe a meter or two more.

The shop had all the basics and there is a restaurant and bar right next to the shop, if you don't feel like cooking. What is more impressive, is the facilities, before we got here, the people that we trust to give us advise for camping all said "Konka, are you kids going on sports camp?". I had to remind them all that my kids are still too young to be going anywhere with us. So this question confused us, but once we got there, everything made sense.

On the one side of Konka is a cricket pitch, with the lions and where we stayed. Separated by a river, on the other side is a chapel, some chalets, dorms and large fields for soccer or rugby, tennis courts and a host of other sports areas.

There are hiking trails and mountain bike trails. but our small family just had fun walking around and enjoying the obstacle courses, bike track and the cricket pitch. I think if it didn't rain so much we would have taken advantage of much more.

Konka has mobile coverage and this was a god sent when the rain came, as we were able to put on Netflix in the camper and keep the kids indoors and dry.

There is not much more I can say other than, we got wet, more like flooded out. I got soaked to the bone thanks to a pretty interesting camper design. but all in all we had fun and got to create DaMoment with other people in our caravan club, and with our kids watching netflix all in one bed (to keep warm and because the other bed got wet, hahaha). When we drove away from the campsite, Zante and I could not help but look at each other and glimpse back at the Zaria and Diego, we are so blessed to be able to enjoy this amazing moment.
