We are starting to get smarter with our packing, thank you to Plastic Land and to Decathlon. When I heard over the radio that Plastic Land has a container to pack anything you need, I looked at Zante and said we are going, they didn’t disappoint, we were able to find containers for the food items and for all our camping equipment. What this means is that we will be able to transfer in and out of the rental camping trailer. By making this process easier we will be able to enjoy more time camping with the kids and ensure that we get to create more da moments. The biggest thing is removing the stress of camping or not owning our own camper.

Finally, we discovered that we were going to need separate camping clothes and equipment, and that we would keep these in the storage containers. So, we first went to Camp Union Mart and to a few more camping shops, and yes they have very nice things, but they have almost nothing for the kids and what they have I can honestly say is pretty expensive. I am not sure how most people are, but I don’t want to spend lots of money on the kids clothes because they may outgrow it by the next season. So, then we went to Decathlon, in Bryanston. Do yourself a favor and go check it is out, they have amazing things there. A few of the key things we would recommend is a badminton set and a boules set, these are cheap and when you set them up you will find that even your camping neighbors will come and ask to join the fun. Back to getting things for the kids, we were able to find such nice jackets, hiking shoes and other things that suited the kids. Truly amazing store, check out the full story about this on “Kitting out the Kids” article.

So now that we have the kids clothes and everything in easy packed containers we are ready to camp. Jannie from Kubu, got us the Bush Lapa Bobab 4, slightly different from the one we had before as this one did not have a basin inside. However, the bed configuration was identical as the previous one. I have noticed that the Bobab is almost like the 3 series bmw or the X3 more specifically, and to do a little goldilocks, its not to big, its not too small, its just right for a family of our size and did I mention its light weight to tow?

I am still not sure if it is the kids or the adults that get more excited about camping. The minute I pull that caravan into the drive way, I can see my wife start to smile. The work of loading and preparing becomes a complete labor of love for the both of us, and I truly cant explain how the kids get so excited, Diego will ask us every 10 minutes, “are we going now?”.
